Argumentative Essay on Banning Tobacco Is It Effective
Argumentative Essay on Banning Tobacco Is It Effective Free sample argumentative essay on Banning Tobacco: There are many ways to stop people from using drugs such as tobacco instead of prohibition there are infinite possibilities that you can do to stop people from drinking or smoking. Whether we like it or not we can not stop everyone from drinking or smoking and thatââ¬â¢s the same as not being able to prevent what happens to innocent civilians like how a drunk driver can hit your child. Or you canââ¬â¢t stop the effects of drugs like tobacco which influence you in a really bad way which leads to poor judgments. So you really have no control over someone elseââ¬â¢s life not to do drugs. Well, there are ways to help prevent it but itââ¬â¢s really not anyoneââ¬â¢s choice if you can drink or smoke. One way to help prevent people from wanting to take tobacco is to make laws that prohibit if you abuse the ability to take drugs too much. Well I think there is a law like that but if you make it worse like making a longer prison period or a larger payment fee it may work. Some people think there is nothing left for them in this life or they got nothing to lose if they do drugs so we should help those people out and try to force help upon them even though we canââ¬â¢t. I really think no matter what we do people will continue to smoke or take drugs because no matter what happens people still took drugs we banned many illegal drugs on the street. Even if there is a law or chance to get arrested people take that chance and risk it all for a couple minutes of pleasure people think drugs are the answer if all else didnââ¬â¢t help so that is why they turn to drugs. So no matter what law we come up with or anything else we try to do to stop drugs there is no guarantee all of it will go away so no matter what drugs are here to stay. So have hope, maybe you can save one or two lives but not every ones. So one person can make all the difference for you so drugs are going to always be a problem no matter what anyoneââ¬â¢s opinion is.

Competing Visions Paper 2 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Competing Visions Paper 2 - Essay Example If Keene and Oââ¬â¢Donnellââ¬â¢s argument are to be used in running the state, the state becomes an agent of oppression that perpetuate the interest of those who have over those who do not have. The state no longer becomes an instrument of justice but rather an institution of oppression that rules with tyranny. Such is not the function of the government. Government is supposed to rule everybody and everybody should have a stake and say in the government and not only those who have properties. Keene and Oââ¬â¢Donnellââ¬â¢s argument are also impractical. Suppose for the sake of argument that we will only let those who bear the burden of the state to have a say in it. What are going to do with those who do not have property? Are we just going to ignore them? Marginalize them? They happen to consist a very significant portion of society. We all know today that if we marginalize a certain sector of society that they will eventually resent it. Thus, an unjust society as proposed by Keene and Oââ¬â¢Donnell will just create a social volcano and make the society combustible as it breeds dissent among those who do not have a say. Eventually, a revolution or uprising will happen just like in any other society in history where the people eventually revolted against an oppressive state and the powers that be, including those who are privileged, are either deposed or harmed. Such policy also further the gaps between those who are propertied and those who are not. In the long run, society will no longer be sustainable because it does not seek to empower others to become propertied also that they may be able to share the burden of the state. In this kind of society that Keene and Oââ¬â¢Donnell proposes, peopleââ¬â¢s station are static. Meaning, if you are poor, you will be poor all your life without any chance of improving your lot. So your kind multiplies while those who are propertied become greatly outnumbered. Until it becomes a point that those who

Government and its Policies for Entrepreneurs Essay
Government and its Policies for Entrepreneurs - Essay Example The legislations made with respect to entrepreneurs and enterprises are complicated and cumbersome. Entrepreneurs find these legislations difficult to grasp without the help of proper legal help. They think that legislations should be made in a way that they are easy to understand and follow by everyone. Also some critics of government believe that its policies have hurt the economy and market structures. By holding on to the status quo government has stifled entrepreneurial activities. People believe that government needs to do more to help them succeed in their enterprising efforts. "The American economy is dying, but not from natural causes. It is being strangled to death in a coordinated pincer attack. America's ability to survive, produce and prosper is being systematically destroyed by socialistic taxes and regulations that make U.S. production of virtually everything increasingly uneconomical. Simultaneously, the same legislators and government officials who are impeding American producers are opening the floodgates to cheap foreign goods that are not burdened with the same debilitating taxes, regulations and mandates" (Jasper, 2003). Government should pass legislations to support a market economy in support of entrepreneurs in particular. ... Government Policies Government is currently making policies for different sets of groups. Different group have different needs and wants. There could be some policies that encompass all and sundry but at some level government has to look at the specific groups. Some groups make bigger investments in their enterprises while some start their business on a small scale. Some belong to a particular ethnic group with specific needs while some belong to another. Government can make policies on two different levels that general policies for all and specific policies for particular sectors or groups as one policy fits all can not work in case of entrepreneurs. Blanket Policies Government can pursue certain blanket policies applicable to all entrepreneurs. The government has already established special organizations like SBA that support small businesses. These organizations support start up firms regarding the whole procedure of conducting business. General legislations apply to all small businesses and industries. Following important blanket policies could be adopted by the government: Financing and Capital The most important blanket policies that US government could adopt would be regarding financing and capital availability. Whenever someone wants to start a new business the most difficult step becomes financing. Entrepreneur takes a lot of risk while trying to establish a new business venture. They put in all their efforts and hard work to make their business succeed. Some even leave their routine and comfortable jobs for their enterprising ventures. They can all do this only if a solid financing is provided to them. Government's rule becomes crucial here. Currently organizations like Small Business Administration (SBA) provide

Generic Strategies Model by Charles O. Godornes Essay
Generic Strategies Model by Charles O. Godornes - Essay Example In order for these businesses to be successful they have to follow and practice a certain Generic Strategic model which would be Cost ââ¬â Leadership, Differentiation or Focus. Cost ââ¬â Leadership is where a business has a low level of differentiation or low level of costs in order to have a competitive market price edge to the market. Businesses that wish to venture and be successful in this type of strategy must focus on lowering their costs and offer value to their customers by producing effective products. Companies should be alert in controlling and monitoring their production costs, overhead costs, and their costs on research and development and in their service costs, so that they could offer a competitive price to the market. Companies should also invest in state-of the-art manufacturing technology in order to lower their costs which would lead to its primary goal which is having competitive market price. In differentiation strategy, businesses create value to their market by offering products which are unique in features and in characteristics; these are products that meets the customersââ¬â¢ preference and satisfaction by charging customers with a premium price. Virtual Reality Internship Reflection
Virtual Reality Internship Reflection Executive summary about Internship/abstract: Spoketech is Chicago based company founded in 2005 focused on helping businesses realize their vision. Our team has a solid experience in IT strategy and technology solutions. Its a small consulting firm and fortunately they started working on VR(Virtual Reality) environment. I got interviewed by showing them my portfolio of my previous work I done in Unity Engine. So I had the opportunity to work with them on this quarter for past 9 weeks. The company had all the resources for working on virtual reality stating from the software to hardware everything are cutting edge technology. I was allowed to work on high end software such a Unity, Maya, and Photoshop. I got introduced to agile development methodologies. I proved a valuable resource throughout this quarter by expressing my effectiveness and providing there necessary requirements developing the product. Detailed Description Responsibilities Goals/Objectives: At SpokeTech Inc, I was assigned to work in Virtual Reality one of their own products in collaboration with Amazon cloud services. I worked in the Maya and Unity part. The team wants me to build the 3D model and import to Unity and already there is a test model was built to test in the VR environment. So this a cloud based service, before I joined they already started working on cloud services. I was assigned to the task to build 3D models with low poly count so that they can upload to the cloud and download into Unity engine to make their product. I taught myself to design Maya and went through different websites and watched educational YouTube videos and designed a lot of prototype model and communicated with the team to build a perfect 3D model. To complete the task efficiently I used the already test build model blue print to design the 3D model. In the end the model came what was we expected. Also, I was involved in VR scripting related work. The project was done using C# language because the unity engine supports JavaScript and C#. I found that C# is easy for me as I learnt it before when I took a class in DePaul last winter quarter. I created simple interactive UI scripts as front end work for the project which everything was done in Unity engine. Apart from that I was introduced into Agile Methodology; I have learnt the principles for software development under which the requirements and solutions evolve through the collaborative effort of self-organized cross-functional teams. I had to join a website called Trello and to work with the team and get a exposure of Agile Methodology. Also I voluntarily involved myself in photoshop,I can create texture for the models I made. So I had download HD quality images from the Google then I used Photoshop to edit and applied to the modes in Maya as UV mapping. Internship was with the SpokeTech Inc was from January 11th to March 16th. 9 weeks I have spent. Most of the conversations done through Skype meeting. I had to visit them on occasions. I mentioned what I did for every week below: 1st week Modeling 2nd week Modeling 3rd week Importing everything to unity 3D(Fixing up the meshes) and models 4th week-Programming in C# 5th week -Photoshop 6th Week- Programming in C# 7th Week- Modeling 8th Week- Programming in Unity3D 9th Week Programming in Unity 3D Major Tasks accomplished: Tasks accomplished are creating 3d models, Created simple scripts based on the supervisor requirements. Uploaded the 3D models into the Amazon cloud and downloaded successfully using unity engine where every code was written using C#. Skills That I learned on the job: I was introduced to agile methodology and C# scripting, I learn a lot about penetration testing with my peer during my Internship. Also, I learn about unity and UV Mapping in Maya. Apart from that I was introduced to Amazon Cloud services to upload the Asset bundle from the unity to cloud and retrieve back from the cloud. Everything was coded in C#. I improved a lot in my communication and other soft skills. How your education at DePaul helped you at your internship: The courses that I took at DePaul really helped me prepare for the Internship. The course SE456 (Architecture of games) helped me scripting C# and I have learned about design patterns. That helped me to write code efficiently. I was working on the Unity 3D which is a game engine tool which supports C# scripting so this course helped me in a lot of different aspects. Apart from that I already learnt Maya in the free time that also provided me great help for designing the Models requested in the company. Apart from this knowledge I gained in DePaul University really helped me throughout the Internship. Also took Optimized C++(CSC461) on last year fall quarter. The subject is helpful for me to work on creating a own simple shader code like phong shading. Conclusion: This internship is the stepping-stone for my career. I have met a lot of intelligent people in the firm throughout my internship. I have gained in-depth knowledge Unity VR platform, development from scratch. I have learned to test the code using agile software development process. I also gained a better understanding of how to establish communication with the employer within SpokeTech organization effectively. The dedication and passion I got from the company have made me a lasting impression, and I Feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in such an environment.

Misconceptions about Satanism :: Non-Christian Religions Satan
Misconceptions about Satanism à à à à à Most religions like Christianity, Hinduism, and Islam have well defined meanings, one exception is Satanism. Most people have their own definition for Satanism. à à à à à Some people feel that non-Christian religions and all Christian denominations other than their own are forms of Satanism. This would imply that all Buddhists, Hindus, Moslems, and Jews. In fact at least 75% of the world's population would be Satanists. à à à à à Others feel that all religions other than Judaism or Christianity are inspired by Satan and thus are forms of Satanism. This would still leave the vast majority of people in the world being Satanists. à à à à à Large numbers of people feel that a wide variety of unrelated, benign religions (such as Santeria and other Caribbean religions, Druidism, New Age, Wicca, ect.) are forms of Satanism. à à à à à Such definitions create great confusion. The following are recommended terms and descriptions for four essentially unrelated religions that have been called Satanism. à à à à à The first is Religious Satanism, This faith includes the recognition of Satan either as a deity or as a principle. Three main denominations exist: the Church of Satan, the Temple of Set, and the Church of Satanic Liberation. Other short lived Satanic groups currently exist and have existed in the recent past. According to Statistic Canada, the 1991 census found 335 Canadians who identified themselves as Satanists. The actual Number is probably significantly larger. A United States Department of the Army pamphlet #165-13 "RELIGIOUS REQUIREMENTS AND PRACTICES OF CERTAIN SELECTED GROUPS - A HANDBOOK FOR CHAPLAINS" (1978 - April) estimated that there were 10 to 20 thousand members of the Church of Satan in the United States. Accurate data is impossible to estimate, since the largest group (The Church of Satan) does not release its membership totals. à à à à à It is important to realize that the Satan they recognize has few if any point s of similarity with the Christian concept of Satan. The Satanists' concept of Satan is pre-Christian, and derived from the Pagan image of power, virility, sexuality and sensuality. To most Satanists, Satan is a force of nature, not a living quasi-deity. Their Satan has nothing to do with Hell, demons, pitchforks or profound evil. à à à à à The image of Satanism spawned by Christianity is called Gothic Satanism. It is an imaginary and profoundly evil religion that was invented during the late Middle Ages. Concepts included ritual killing of children, selling their soul to the devil, breaking crucifixes, conducting black masses, ect. It has never existed in the past, and does not exist today, except in the imagination of the public. à à à à à Another form of Satanism is Teen Satanism: A syncretistic religion which is a blend of Religious Satanism, Gothic Satanism, ceremonial magick, and any
